Snapshots capture the current state of your VPS and are included on every plan. They are ideal for creating a restore point before major changes like OS upgrades, software installs, or configuration changes.
Taking a Snapshot
- Log in to your client area and go to Services > My Services.
- Click your VPS, then go to the Snapshots tab.
- Click Take Snapshot. Give it a descriptive name.
- The snapshot will be created within a few minutes. Your server remains running during this process.
Restoring from a Snapshot
- Go to the Snapshots tab for your VPS.
- Find the snapshot you want to restore and click Restore.
- Confirm the restore. This will revert your server to the state at the time of the snapshot \u2014 any changes made after the snapshot was taken will be lost.
- The restore typically completes within a few minutes.
Deleting Snapshots
Snapshots consume disk space. Delete snapshots you no longer need from the Snapshots tab to free up space.
Snapshots vs. Backups
Snapshots are stored on the same physical node as your VPS. For off-site protection, consider also maintaining your own external backups of critical data.
